Meet John Halter and Larry Massey… their families have been there. They’ve watched their daughters fight leukemia and for their lives. They’ve spent months in the hospital, nights awake and hours upon hours praying on their behalf. They know personally the little blessings in the help, love and generosity of family, friends and strangers.
Larry & John recently completed an ultra marathon – 100 miles in 24 hours around their Knoxville, TN neighborhoods – to bring awareness to childhood cancer and the small grassroots businesses, nonprofits, and gestures of others that help lighten the load. As was true during the years they spent in the cancer journey with their girls, they were not alone in this race. Other dad’s from their group {all of whom have either lost children to cancer or have had their sons and daughters live beyond treatment} walked and ran by their side for portions of the marathon. Their families and other supporters lined the streets to cheer them on with signs, encouraging words, and cheers.
They both work hard to continue lifting others up, supporting childhood cancer causes, and creating a life full of impact and love. Read more of their story here.
Tough As Nails is humbled and honored to be recognized and supported by their cause! Please check out other nonprofits also dedicated to supporting this journey:
