I was raised to be a strong, independent woman. One who can take care of myself and others. Maybe this isn’t uncommon of children born and raised in the 70’s. I have taken it to heart my entire life (& for those who know me well that is probably not a surprise). I don’t feel limited to activities because I’m a woman.

I’ve learned, however, that because I CAN do most chores, I’m not great at asking for help. In fact, I’m terrible at it! Remember the old Disney cartoons where the mule had a stack piled so high on his back it would bend and sway with every step. And somehow it never fell off? That’s me. Except, truth be told, the pile does fall. I get tired. I get resentful. I feel unappreciated. Even though I’m the one who piled the stack in the first place. I will carry someone else’s load to help out but struggle to allow others to carry my burdens is all too real.

We all need help.

And it feels good to help others. Most people are more than happy to share the load if we only put our hearts out there and ask.

Is there anything you can let go of today and share your load?
