Lessons from a courageous 6 year old

Life is a funny thing… not to make is sound fickle or invaluable. Life is a blessing, something to cherish with every waking breath. And while sometimes I may lose sight of that or get my attention focused on the wrong things and caught in that drama, I work hard daily to keep my perspective positive.

I’m 42 years old and with the passing of someone very dear to my heart I have been pretty reflective this week. I have learned some of the most valuable lessons from a 6 year old in the past two years. She has taught me more during this time than possibly the rest of my four decades. Here is what she has left behind in my heart:

  • Give love freely and deeply. Daily, hourly, with each passing second.
  • Two things can stare fear in the eye… hope and faith. Grit will help you push through it. Either way, you have to keep moving forward.
  • We all have the potential to make an impact on others, even if we never know the influence we have had.
  • Our most beautiful light can sometimes be found in the darkest days.
  • Heros come in all ages.
  • Laughter is light and a smile is love.
  • Cancer doesn’t win. Ever.

With love and blessings today,

Caryn
