Do you ever find yourself saying…
tomorrow you’ll make time to sit down and write that check for a whatever nonprofit, fundraiser, or organization speaks to you; or you’ll make time in your already over-packed schedule to give a couple hours to your local homeless shelter, nursing home, or children’s program that is always accepting willing helping hands?
There is no denying that the pace of our lives today is busy and full and overflowing. Somedays it’s all I can do to get a load of laundry from the washer to the dryer. Truly! However, I have found that the more I can give, the more I get from life. The more enjoyable, meaningful & fulfilling it is. I am constantly reminding myself that it doesn’t take thousands or even hundreds of dollars. It doesn’t take days or weeks or even hours. It can simply be buying an extra pack of crayons to donate to a women’s shelter, giving 30 minutes to read a story to a classroom, or holding the door open for someone at the grocery store.
We have so many small opportunities every day to give love, share a smile, offer a hand or kind word… free of charge. There are gifts waiting for us at every corner we turn. Someone took the time the other day to simply tell me they were excited and inspired by the efforts we are making to fold 1,000 cranes to include in our Origami Crane Folding Activity Kits and that comment has lived in my heart for a week. It has fueled me to keep going and to take one step forward every day to reach for our goal. It has inspired me to pursue new goals & continue dreaming about what we can do for others through Tough As Nails. One comment was all it took.
So, I want to ask you… how are you impacting others? What can you do today that will fuel someone’s dream, give them the opportunity to reach new goals, or reach out to let others know they are not alone.
Write that check. Find that 30 minutes. Donate that pack of crayons. Whatever you do, whatever is on your heart… do it! Don’t wait for tomorrow.
Sometimes the smallest gestures have the greatest impact!
